Ask Richardson is proud to sponsor Light Night Leeds 2022

Ask and Richardson are once again delighted to be supporting Leeds Light Night which takes place on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th October.

This superb annual event, which is now well established in the city’s arts and culture calendar, sees Leeds city centre illuminated with up to 50 light installations, each one designed by either local or international artists. This year’s event has the theme of ‘Playful City’ with creations which will see the streets of Leeds city centre transformed into an illuminated playground. A highlight of the free two-night festival will be on a projection on The Queens Hotel of a huge digital rollercoaster ride.

2022 is the third year of our support for Leeds Light Night and is part of our commitment to the city as we bring forward Tower Works, our 245 unit build to rent scheme on Globe Road which topped out earlier this summer.

Ask Richardson’s nominated installation for 2022 is ‘Infinity Pools’ by UK-based Studio Vertigo. Based at Granary Wharf, the floating circular mirror sculptures transform into endless light tunnels, like portals in time and space that are revealed only in the evenings.

The multi-coloured Infinity lights vary in size and will be placed around the docks with the dramatic effect of appearing to descend deep into the water. The artworks play with the visual experience that observers feel when close to the sculptures, if close enough they could be pulled inside, drawn downward into voids where time and space appear absent and still.

Ask Real Estate managing director John Hughes said: “Leeds Light Night has gone from strength to strength each year and we are really pleased to be supporting this superb project once again. It literally shines a light on some of the great locations and buildings across the city which combine to make Leeds one of the UK’s most popular residential locations. We’re really looking forward to seeing ‘Infinity Pools’ light up our neighbourhood especially as Tower Works is now well advanced and we move towards completion in the Spring.”

Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for economy, culture and education, said: “Year after year, Light Night sets the standard for culture in Leeds, showcasing in truly spectacular fashion the very best of our city’s artistic ambition and ingenuity. Light Night is also one of the best examples of the integral role that culture plays in raising the profile of Leeds and acting as a huge catalyst for the local economy.”
